Welcome to the official website and community blog of Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School (“JCSS,” “the School,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). These terms explain how our digital relationship works when you interact with our website, read or comment on our blog, or access school resources online.
We have written this document in clear, straightforward language because we believe our students, parents, guardians, alumni, and staff should fully understand the guidelines they are agreeing to. By using this website, you agree to these terms.
1. Website Use and Acceptable Behavior
Our website and blog are provided exclusively for informational purposes, academic updates, admissions inquiries, and healthy community engagement. To maintain an online environment that reflects our core pillars – Knowledge, Truth, and Light. All users must adhere to a strict code of conduct.
Strict Prohibited Behavior:
When interacting with our blog comments, contact forms, or public portals, you agree not to:
- Post or transmit any defamatory, abusive, profane, obscene, or racially/religiously offensive language.
- Engage in cyberbullying, intimidation, harassment, or defamation targeting JCSS students, teachers, parents, administrators, or alumni.
- Post spam, unsolicited commercial advertisements, or promotional links.
- Impersonate any school official, teacher, administrator, parent, or student.
Comment Moderation and Enforcement:
Our reputation as a disciplined Christian institution depends heavily on maintaining community standards. JCSS reserves the absolute right to review, moderate, edit, or immediately delete any comment or submission that violates these terms. We also reserve the right to permanently block users from interacting with our digital platforms if they repeatedly breach these guidelines.
2. Intellectual Property and Content Ownership
Here is how ownership works for the different parts of our website and blog:
- School Content: All original content published on this website, including news articles, blog entries, graphics, official school logos, photographs of school events, institutional videos, and text, is the exclusive property of Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School or its authorized content creators and is protected by Nigerian and international copyright laws.
- Prohibited Commercialization: You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or republish any material from this site for commercial purposes without explicit, written permission from the JCSS School Administration.
- Permitted Sharing: You are highly encouraged to share links to our public blog posts or school news on personal social media platforms for educational, non-commercial, or promotional purposes that favor the school, provided full credit is given to JCSS.
3. User-Submitted Material and Copyright Responsibility
If you submit a blog comment, testimonial, student article, alumni update, or media file to be featured on our platform, you are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to use and share that content.
We assume you own or have explicit permission to use everything you submit to us. If any third-party copyright or intellectual property disputes arise from material you provided, resolving that issue is entirely your responsibility. JCSS will not be held liable for copyright infringements resulting from user-submitted content.
4. Special Provisions for Portals and Third-Party Services
While our central website and blog serve as our primary public voice, certain digital functions rely on specialized third-party software, integrations, or external portals (such as student management systems, checking exam results, or paying school fees via external gateways).
- Any integrated third-party software, plug-ins, or portal architectures remain subject to their respective original licenses and terms.
- JCSS is not responsible for technical glitches, data errors, or system downtime occurring on external third-party platforms.
- The blog may contain external links to international testing or accreditation bodies (such as the Association of Christian Schools International – ACSI, WAEC, NECO, or Cambridge International). JCSS does not control, endorse, or accept liability for the content or privacy standards of these external sites.
5. Limitation of Liability
We work to keep our website secure, accurate, and running smoothly. However, we cannot guarantee absolute, uninterrupted uptime or that the platform will always be free of temporary technical errors.
- Technical Events: JCSS is not responsible for problems caused by third-party web hosting interruptions, server errors, internet connectivity failures within Nigeria, or malicious cyber activity beyond our reasonable security measures.
- Scope of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the School’s total liability for any digital claim arising out of your use of this website is limited to zero, as the website and blog are provided entirely free of charge for informational and educational purposes. We are not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
6. Unforeseeable Circumstances
Sometimes, events completely beyond anyone’s control can disrupt school or digital operations. Extraordinary circumstances, including but not limited to nationwide internet outages, major electrical grid failures, natural disasters, government regulatory actions, or regional security mandates, may delay web updates or temporarily disable website features. In such instances, the school will restore services as soon as circumstances reasonably permit.
7. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
We value transparent and direct communication. Should any disagreement or dispute arise regarding the use of this website or blog, we are deeply committed to resolving it promptly and amicably through direct, private engagement with the School Administration.
If an amicable resolution cannot be reached internally, these Terms of Service shall be governed by, interpreted, and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any formal legal proceedings must be brought exclusively before the competent courts of jurisdiction in Rivers State, Nigeria.
