Mathematics

Subjects: Mathematics, Further/Additional Mathematics, Auto Mechanics

By pairing rigorous courses like Further Mathematics with practical, hands-on disciplines like Auto Mechanic work, we ensure our students develop the problem-solving grit and engineering mindset required to excel in a data-driven world.

Languages

Subjects: English Language, French

Language is the ultimate tool for global connection. Our department focuses on building absolute fluency, masterful written expression, and cross-cultural competence. By mastering English and French, two of the world’s most powerful languages for diplomacy and commerce, our students gain a distinct competitive edge that ensures their voices carry weight on both local and international stages. Also oversees IELTS preparation for senior secondary students targeting universities in the UK, Canada, and Australia.

Computer Studies & ICT

Subjects: Digital Technology, Microsoft Suite

Featuring a well-equipped ICT resource lab with over 40 high-performance computers per session.

The digital frontier moves fast, and our ICT Department keeps students up to date with the curve. We combine rigorous digital literacy and Microsoft certifications with hands-on technical training. Supported by our well-equipped resource lab hosting over 40 individual computer stations per session, we guarantee a 1:1 student-to-device ratio where every learner actively codes, builds, and designs their digital future.

Creative Arts

Subjects: Music, Fine Arts

We believe creativity is an essential intelligence. The Creative Arts Department provides a vibrant sanctuary for artistic expression, musical mastery, and visual storytelling. Subjects: Basic Technology, Technical Drawing, Home Economics, Fashion Design and Garment Making, Catering Craft, Foods and Nutrition

Innovation meets execution in our Technical and Vocational Department. We treat the classroom as a design studio and a workshop. Whether drafting blueprints in Technical Drawing, engineering solutions in Basic Tech or mastering the precision of Fashion Design and culinary arts, our students gain invaluable, high-demand vocational skills that boost self-reliance and technical excellence.

Arts and Humanities

Subjects: Literature-in-English, Christian Religious Studies, Government

Admissions

HOD: Mrs Isioma

The Admissions Department serves as the welcoming gateway to Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School. This team is dedicated to guiding prospective families through every step of their journey, from handling initial enquiries and coordinating entrance examination schedules to managing a seamless onboarding experience for new pupils.

Bursary

HOD: Mrs Veronica Aboturi

The Bursary Department manages the financial integrity and administrative clearance pathways of the school with absolute precision. They oversee the structured collection of school fees, maintain financial records, and facilitate the essential clearance processes required during termly resumptions and final graduations.

Boarding & Student Affairs

SBHM: Mr Ijeoma | Student Affairs Officer: Mrs Ugo-Major

We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and structured ‘home away from home’ for our boarders. We oversee both the male and female hostels, and our team manages day-to-day boarding operations with a strong emphasis on student well-being, character development, and open communication. We also coordinate visiting day arrangements to ensure that family connections remain strong and vibrant throughout the academic year.

Medical Unit

HOD: Mrs Nwankwo

The health and physical well-being of our student body is our highest priority. We operate a well-equipped medical unit for male and female students. Our healthcare team handles day-to-day medical needs, tracks vital growth records, including height and weight, and maintains strict confidentiality. While we cater to immediate healthcare requirements on campus, we maintain swift, established protocols to refer complex cases to trusted external specialists whenever necessary.

Counselling & Guidance

HOD: Dr. Ijeoma Egege

Education extends far beyond the textbook; it requires emotional resilience and strategic vision. Our department is open to all students daily. Our counselling unit offers a confidential sanctuary for personal therapy, emotional support, and academic counsel. We guide students through critical milestones, from choosing the right secondary school subjects to navigating career paths and university selections.

Estate & Facilities

HOD: Mr Lawrence Nwosu

The Estate & Facilities Department ensures that the school’s physical infrastructure matches its high academic standards. We manage the continuous maintenance and operational running of our campuses, creating a clean, safe, and fully functioning learning environment.

Dining & Catering

HOD: Ms Gloria Akpenyi

We believe that proper nutrition is fundamental to academic success. Our catering team is proud to prepare and serve five nutritious meals daily comprising morning tea, breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. We maintain exceptionally high standards of hygiene and culinary care while enforcing essential dining hall regulations.

PTA & External Relations

Chairman: Mr Ozenua

The Parent-Teacher Association serves as a vital collaborative bridge between the home and the classroom. We bring parents and educators together to engage in constructive dialogue, align our visions, and strategize on the best path forward for our children.

Assessors

HOD: Mr Samson Musa

Assessors act as the guardians of academic excellence and operational discipline at Jephthah. We operate on a strict round-the-clock shift system across morning, afternoon, and night sessions. Our role is to audit classroom environments. We ensure both teachers and students are precisely where they need to be, monitor the quality of teacher-student interactions, and guarantee that the school’s high standards of instruction and engagement are maintained at all times.

Specialist services

Library

Located on the ground floor of the main school block. The library holds books, encyclopedias, magazines, and newspapers for research and independent reading. Open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. No textbooks are allowed inside the library.

Resource Centre

Sits on the first floor of the main school block. Houses over 40 computers and provides IT, audio-visual, and multimedia support for classroom teaching. Open to all students on a timetabled basis, Monday to Friday.

Examinations

Coordinates registration and administration for all eight external examinations: WAEC, NECO, JAMB, Rivers State JSCE, Cambridge Checkpoint, Cambridge IGCSE, SAT, PSAT, ACT, and IELTS.
